Crossword by Ed Sessa / Edited by Will Shortz

BALL THE JACK (18D. Go for broke), LIFE IS VERY SHORT (12D. Why “there’s no time for using and fighting,“ per a Beatles hit), MAKE THE BEST OF IT (17A. Salvage a bad situation), OVER THE EDGE (37A. Flipped out), PLUM TUCKERED OUT (66A. Too pooped to pop) and TAKE A LOOK AROUND (3D. Open house invitation) are the long entries of this TGIF crossword.

————————

Life is very short, and there's no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend.
I have always thought that it's a crime,
So I will ask you once again.

Try to see it my way,
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong.
While you see it your way
There's a chance that we might fall apart before too long.

We can work it out,
We can work it out.

The Beatles, We Can Work It Out

The answer to 60 across is of course misspelled. It should be "plumb tuckered out" with plumb meaning "totally". Another example of this usage is "That boy's plumb crazy".
